Barrie Manor is looking for fun, strong, outgoing PSW's !!
The PSW's will be expected to:
- Care for a person or a family during periods of illness or recovery
- Assist the client with all activities of daily living including, toileting, bathing, dressing, mobility
- Serve and assist the clients
- Perform housekeeping chores like cleaning and tidying the client�s room or house, changing beds and doing laundry
- Observe, recognize and report any changes in the client�s behaviours and condition
- Report to RPN when any changes are noted
- Have good oral and verbal communication skills � English is essential.
- Deal with others in an effective, compassionate and supportive manner.
- Respect each Resident as an individual and is aware of his/her need for self-respect and privacy, and the right to share in decisions about his/her care..
- Demonstrate effective problem solving skills.
- Have a positive public relation skills, including the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with Residents and families.
- Demonstrate ability to organize workload and to respond efficiently and effectively to unexpected workload and situations.
- Demonstrate ability to operate related equipment.
- Have open an/or reasonable availability
How do I qualify?
You must have:
- Must be a graduate from a recognized Personal Support Worker program
- First Aid/CPR
- Recent experience working with geriatrics, long-term care, or Home services required.

This is what you will be doing:
You will be providing specialized patient care in an active environment with a focus on providing care to our geriatric patient population. You will provide supportive care to their families, you will assume responsibility for the coordination of care focusing on the patient�s transition through the continuum of care, and you will be providing patient and family education if required. You will be supported to provide a full range of nursing care within your scope of practice; which will include, administering of medications and procedures as per established policies and guidelines, completing health assessments and documenting observations and changes in your patient�s condition, and collaborating with health team members to update individualized care plans to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.

Barrie Manor is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; leaders; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Experience working with and advocating for the elderly
- Knowledge and ability to complete physical head to toe assessments
- Experience with skin and wound care
- Experience with electronic documentation
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Clean Police Record
- TB test
- Read and Write English
- First aid/CPR
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
The ideal candidate is a strong advocate of patient centred care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills and a clear patient focus with the ability to manage the PSW team.
