Activities Coordinator


Dawna Proudman draws on a wide range of experience, training and interests to engage the Residents in relevant, stimulating, and fun activities. Dawna has been organizing programs and events since her twenties when she worked for the United Nations Associationís National Office in Ottawa. She later enjoyed fund raising for Theatre Plus and Desrosiers Dance Theatre in Toronto before inaugurating the position of Events Coordinator for Nathan Phillips Square. Dawna then realized her life long dream of moving to a farm in rural Grey County, where she devoted time to raising her daughter, writing, and operating a catering business.

She published a collection of poetry, Elements of Grace, co-founded the Words Aloud Spoken Word Festival (now in its 15th year), and performed on stages throughout Ontario and Quebec. A long-time member of the Autumn Leaves Studio Tour and the League of Canadian Poets, she taught workshops for all ages in cooking, paper mache, wreath making, writing and meditation. Dawna graduated from Georgian Collegeís Activation in Gerontology Course in 2010 and has enjoyed working with seniors ever since. She became the Activities Manager at Barrie Manor in 2013.
